ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM
Our Esthetician Instructor Certification Program is a 25 week (24 hours weekly) totaling 600 clocked hours through a hands-on instruction hybrid course. Our use of both online learning and on-campus hands-on practice allows even busy individuals a chance to become an instructor. This program is designed with the modern student in mind, offering practical courses that help our students create a realistic success plan. Through our program, you will learn the foundations and fundamentals of esthetics instruction, develop educational judgments and proper work habits, and prepare to successfully pass State Boards Examination, and become a Licensed Esthetician Instructor.
For added flexibility, we offer both day and weekend programs. Both programs provide 8 hours weekly of online learning that includes lectures, projects, essays, reading assignments, and recorded demonstration videos. The remaining 16 hours per week are in-person on our campus to learn hands-on classroom management, facilitate group discussion, conduct field trips and assessments, provide one-on-one coaching and academic support, State Board preparation, and career development. Level 1: Junior Instructor
Using the Milady Master Educator 3rd Edition and Cengage Online Ebook, you will accumulate 350 credit hours over 12 weeks in the following areas:
300 Theory Hours: Principles of Teaching, Learning and Lesson Plan Development, Preparation, Teaching Methods, Presentation Techniques Application, Testing, Lectures, Workbook Assignments, Demonstrations, Discussion Question, and Answer Sessions, Field Trips, Virtual Classroom Management, Videos, Films, Powerpoint, Charts Manikins, Reference Materials, Chalk/Board Writing, Program Development.
50 Business Hours: Professional Educator Code of Ethics, St. John Skincare & Wellness Institute Rules, Regulations, Inventory control, GA State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Requirements & Rules, Laws, Fundamentals of Business Management, Professional Ethics, and Business Management, Business Plan Writing, Contract Negotiations, Sales, Public/Human Relations, Insurance, Salon Safety & Sanitation, Career Planning/Employment.
Level 2: Educator
Using the same curriculum, you will collect 250 credit hours in the following areas:
125 hours of Student Salon Management: Independent Clinic Supervision, Client Communication, Reception Desk, Inventory Control, Effective Dispensary Procedures, Supervision of Clinic Sanitation and Client Safety, Technical Skill Ability, Independent Classroom Instruction, Administrative Responsibilities, Records, and Reports Management. Safety Measures, Classroom Conditions, and Maintenance. Classroom Management. Organizational and Regulatory Requirements.
125 hours of Instruction and Academic Assessment: Planning, Analysis Implementation, Assessment of Student Ability/Achievement, Learning Diagnosis of Student Weakness and Overall Progress, Student Motivation for Study and Learning. Oral and Written Testing Evaluation of Overall Progress, Development, and Use of Testing/Measures, Academic Advising, and State Board Preparation.
